Alan Mendelson’s Best Buys, Deals, and More

Alan Mendelson is best known as the "MoneyMan" for his consumer news reporting. He was the Business and Consumer News reporter for KCAL-TV from October 1990 to October 2006 and then created his own Best Buys TV Show which is on KCOP TV every Sunday morning at 8-AM. He started his television news career in 1973.
He has worked for CBS Network News in New York as well as for TV stations in Miami, Florida and Syracuse, New York. He is the author of many magazine articles about economics and personal finance for major publications including The Columbia Journalism Review, The Washington Journalism Review, Barrons and New York Magazine.
He is best known for his best buys TV shows and reports that highlighted deals and shopping and financial tips for viewers. His reporting on TV and radio in Los Angeles for nearly two decades led to the start of www.MoreDeals.com in 1999. He currently edits www.AlanBestBuys.com
Alan has also had his share of public service, and was appointed as Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Tax Reform to the Rockland County, New York, County Legislature when he lived in New York in the 1970's.
He has won many awards including an Emmy, many Golden Microphone Awards, and many awards from the Greater Los Angeles Press Club. He was a founding member of the Economics News Broadcasters Association and served as its President while a producer and reporter at CBS News in New York.
Alan is married and lives in West Loa Angeles with his wife Shelley. He has two children: Jason is a camera man and editor on the Best Buys TV Show and Marisa is a TV news reporter in Florida.
